Orientation
Volunteers are required to attend a Training Session prior to working within the program. Volunteers who miss an orientation clinic will be required to receive one-on-one training. (by appointment)
Time Commitment
As little as one hour per week! Students seeking work experience or practicum placements are welcome to apply. 14 years of age is the minimum requirement.
Hours of Operation
Office Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 3:00
Facility Hours: Monday to Saturday 9:00 -6:00

Requirements
Volunteer Positions Available For Therapeutic Riding
Horse leaders prepare the horses (groom & tack up) for the class under the supervision of the Instructor and are responsible for the horse throughout the lesson. Horse handling experience preferred. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson start time.
Sidewalkers under the guidance of the Instructor, provide necessary instructional and/or physical support to allow the riders to achieve their therapeutic riding goals. You will greet student and assist them with signing in. When instructor is present, you proceed with the grooming. Previous experience with horses is an asset but is certainly not a requirement.

1. Please go to the RCMP and request a Criminal Record check form which will be mailed to us (this takes 4-6 weeks)
2. Please complete the Volunteer Application form below
3. We will contact you to arrange an orientation.

- When working with and around horses proper footwear is essential, therefore sturdy shoes or boots (closed heels & toes) and long pants must be worn. Please no loose jewelry!
- Legal waivers, photo release consents, and confidentiality forms must be signed prior to commencement. A current police report is also required.
- Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer for the leader position and 14 years of age for all other positions.

- Paring with Volunteers with Special Needs (work together on farm)
- Outdoor projects & yard work
- Animal care
- Assisting with administrative work
- Sit on a committee (Future Planning, Volunteer Committee, Program Development, Medical Advisory)
